Event Overview

Set in the peaceful Cheshire village of Ashley, just a stone’s throw from Manchester Airport, this duathlon combines fast, open roads with a unique out-and-back run beneath the runway tunnels — an experience like no other!

The bike route takes in the quiet country lanes around Ashley, Mobberley and Wilmslow, offering scenic views and smooth riding surfaces. The run course is flat and straightforward, with plenty of space to find your rhythm and enjoy the atmosphere.

Sprint Distance starts at 9:00 am
Super Sprint Distance starts at 10:00 am

The event runs between 9:00 am and 12:00 pm, creating a great community feel with supporters and athletes cheering each other on all morning.

Our Super Sprint distance is designed for beginners who want to experience their first duathlon in a relaxed, supportive setting. The Sprint distance is ideal for those with a little more experience or anyone looking for an early-season race to sharpen their fitness and transitions.

Whether you’re chasing a PB or just want to try something new, this event promises a brilliant race-day experience for everyone.

Event Briefing

Arrival

Please arrive 30–45 minutes before your start time (9 am for Sprint, 10 am for Super Sprint). This gives you time to park, register, warm up, and get familiar with transition before the race begins. Our team will be on hand to answer questions and help you feel relaxed and ready.

Car Parking

There is ample free parking at the hotel venue. Normally this is pay and display, but as an event participant, parking is free — simply enter your vehicle registration number at hotel reception on the tablet provided. Please ensure you complete this step, as any unregistered vehicles may receive a parking fine that can only be appealed directly by the driver.

Registration

Bring your entry confirmation email so we can scan you in quickly. At registration, you’ll receive your race number, and we’ll carry out a quick helmet check. Once registered, head to transition to rack your bike and set up your running shoes, helmet and any nutrition or drinks you plan to use.

Transition Area

Transition is where you’ll keep your bike, running shoes and race essentials. Please keep bags or personal items in your car, as space in transition is limited. The area will be clearly marked and marshalled — if this is your first event, our team will happily guide you through the setup.

Spectators & Support

Spectators are strongly encouraged — there’s no better motivation than hearing friends, family and other athletes cheering you over the finish line! Bring your supporters along and enjoy the fantastic atmosphere — it’s a great morning out for everyone.

Race Start

The start line will be clearly marked and explained during the pre-event briefing. Depending on entry numbers, we may use a staggered mass start, setting off small groups (around 10 participants every 30 seconds) to keep the course flowing smoothly. This keeps things relaxed at the start and ensures everyone has plenty of space.

Please be ready at your allocated time so we can start promptly and keep the day running smoothly.

Run

The run is an out-and-back course that passes through the runway tunnels, offering a truly unique setting! Please keep to the left-hand side of the pavement to allow others to overtake safely.

If you overtake, move to the right, then return to the left when it’s clear. If overtaken, drop back slightly to allow space for others.

On the Sprint distance, some sections of pavement can be narrow. When approaching oncoming runners, be aware of road position — if you’re on the downhill side, step carefully and never force another runner into the road.

Run 1: Out and back
Run 2: Out and back

Bike

The mount and dismount lines are clearly marked outside of transition. Please walk or jog your bike to and from these lines — do not mount or dismount inside the transition area.

Sprint: 2 laps (anticlockwise)
Super Sprint: 1 lap (anticlockwise)

The route is fully signposted and marshalled, taking in quiet country roads with light traffic. All riders must wear a fastened helmet before touching their bike — no exceptions.

Finish Line

You’ll finish where you started, and your time will be automatically recorded as you cross the line. Once finished, please move safely away from the finish area and head back to transition to cool down, stretch and collect your kit.
