Event Overview

Set in the beautiful rural surroundings of Woodford, this community duathlon is perfect for anyone looking to get active, challenge themselves, or experience the excitement of a multi-sport event for the first time.

The course is flat and fast, with just one short, punchy hill on the bike leg to test your legs and reward you with stunning countryside views. Both routes take you through the scenic roads around Woodford, Wilmslow and Mottram St. Andrew, making this an enjoyable and confidence-boosting race for all.

Whether you’re new to duathlon or looking for a late-season sharpener, the Woodford Community Duathlon offers a fun, friendly, and fully supported race morning.

Sprint Distance starts at 9:00 am
Super Sprint Distance starts at 10:00 am

Expect a great atmosphere with athletes of all ages and abilities sharing the same goal — to cross that finish line with a smile!

The Super Sprint is ideal for beginners or as a relaxed race simulation, while the Sprint is a great progression for those looking to push the pace or practise transitions under race conditions.

It’s also a fantastic choice for triathletes wanting off-season race practice, perfect for keeping fitness up and working on transitions, bike handling and running form before the next season begins.

Event Briefing

Arrival

Please arrive 30–45 minutes before your start time to give yourself plenty of time to park, register, rack your bike, warm up, and familiarise yourself with the transition area. Our friendly team will be on hand to answer any questions and help you feel at ease.

Car Parking

There is ample free parking on site, plus additional on-street parking nearby. If you have a bike mounted on your roof, please remove it before entering the car park due to height restrictions. As the event is held within a residential area, please park considerately and respect local residents.

Registration

Bring your entry confirmation email so we can scan you in. At registration, you’ll collect your race number and we’ll complete a quick helmet safety check. After that, head to transition to rack your bike and set up your gear — this is where you’ll keep your running shoes, bike, and any nutrition or hydration you need during the event.

Transition Area

Your transition space is for your bike, shoes, and essentials only. Please keep bags or personal belongings in your car, as storage space in transition is limited. The area will be clearly signed, and our team will guide you if it’s your first time using a transition.

Spectators & Support

Spectators are warmly encouraged — there’s nothing like crossing the line to cheers from friends and family! Bring your supporters along to enjoy the morning and soak up the atmosphere. There’s even a lovely local pub nearby serving great food for a post-race celebration.

Race Start

The start line will be clearly marked and highlighted during the pre-event briefing. Please be ready to start promptly at your allocated time to ensure smooth wave progressions.

Run

Run sections take place on pavements and safe paths. Please keep to the left-hand side to allow others to overtake safely.

Run 1: Sprint – 2 laps | Super Sprint – 1 lap (anticlockwise)
Run 2: Sprint – 1 lap | Super Sprint – 1 lap (anticlockwise)

If overtaking, please move right and then return to the left when safe. If overtaken, drop back slightly to maintain a fair distance.

Bike

The bike course is fully signposted and marshalled for your safety. The mount line and dismount line will be clearly marked — please walk or jog with your bike to and from these points. Do not mount or dismount before the line.

Bike: Sprint – 2 laps | Super Sprint – 1 lap (anticlockwise)

All riders must wear a fastened helmet before touching their bike. Anyone without one will not be permitted to ride.

Finish Line

You’ll finish where you started — your time will be automatically recorded as you cross the line. Once you’ve finished, please move safely away from the timing area and head back to transition to cool down, collect your kit, and catch your breath.

Questions?

We’re here to help! If there’s anything you’re unsure about, please get in touch by email, text, or social media — our team will be happy to answer your questions and make sure you feel fully prepared for race day.
