FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Can Anybody Take Part In a Duathlon Event?

We put various distances on so that we can accommodate as many different ability levels as possible.  We have run bike run events for the complete novice and loner distances for the more proficient in the sport.  All you need is road safe bike, a helmet and a willingness to give it a go.

What Is A Duathlon?

A Duathlon is a run followed by a cycle ride followed by another run.

Do I Need Any Special Equipment To Take Part In A Duathlon Near Me?

No.  All you need is a road safe bike (We can check it for you on the day).  A helmet and a willingness to take part.  Wear what you like.  Shorts and t shirts are recommended.  We have runners who turn up in tri suits, cycling shorts, cycling suits, joggers you name it we’ve seen it (No fancy dress to date though)

Duathlon Events Can Be A Bit Clicky Can’t They?
We do have a lot of regulars who take part in our events but we want to dispel this myth straight away.  ALL our events are extremely welcoming and friendly.  Our aim is to bring multisport to the masses.  This isn’t just our ethos it’s pretty much the whole multisport industry.  Everybody at our events are extremely friendly, encouraging and always willing to make new friends.

We are even happy to refund your money if you don’t agree with us.
Will I have To Train For My Duathlon?
It’s like anything in life.  You get out what you are willing to put in  If you want a decent time then yes you will need to train.  If you want to just get round the course in your own time that’s fine to.  It’s more about getting involved and giving it a try.  We are confident that once you sign up it will give you the confidence to do some training and the fact that you are considering a run bike run event makes us think you have some level of fitness.

It’s really up to you.  Train if you want to but we will wait until you finish even if it takes all day and night so don’t worry.
What Are The Duathlon Distances?
Each event is slightly different although each course has a GO TRI event on one day and a Sprint Distance on the other day.  GO TRI events are the shorter distances so are recommended for beginners and the Sprint distance are longer for the more experienced.  Both great options for everybody though.

Each even page has all of the information on that particular event along with the break down of distances for the first run ,bike and second run so be sure to check out those although we also include the breakdown on this page so you can get an idea.
Do I Find Out How Long It Has Taken Me?

The GO TRI Events all set off at the same time and we offer manual timing on these events i.e everyone starts at 09:00 and we take note what time you finish and that will be your time on the GO TRI.  Sprint events are slightly different.  We provide chip timing on our Sprint events.  Everybody is given a micro chip and timings are calculated electronically and split between the areas i.e first run, bike and second run plus your overall timing.

Are These The Only Duathlon Events In 2022?

For us yes they are.  Don’t worry though as we are already planning our 2023 calendar and are looking to add a few new venues to it for 2023 including a London Duathlon if possible so be sure to check out this page regularly.

What Is The Difference Between Triathlon Duathlon?

A Triathlon is a Swim, Bike Run and a Duathlon is a Run, Bike Run (So no getting wet unless it rains)  If you prefer running and cycling over swimming and running then a duathlon is the perfect choice.

Are Juniors Able to Take Part?

Our events historically have only been open to participants over the age of 15 but we have just introduced a set of Junior Tristar waves at our Central Lancashire event.  These wave are various distances split from age 8 – 14.  They are also part of the Northwest Duathlon Series for Juniors.
